One Church: Unite Arkansas in Faith and Mission was
created in 2018 to focus on the missionary spirit of all parishes in the state. One Church supports a small mission in our diocese that needs a leg up to become a thriving community. The support for the partner parish is for 12 months, from Sep- tember to August.
Who picks the target parish?
Bishop Anthony B. Taylor and his priest council called the Presbyteral Council How is the program administered?
Catholic Charities of Arkansas is available to answer questions, offer assistance, coor- dinate between parishes and accept donations.
What kind of help does the target parish need?
It will vary from year to year. The 2021-2022 partner is St. Andrew Church in Dan- ville. It needs funding to renovate its parish center for faith formation classes, re- treats and parish-wide events.
What are we expected to do to help?
It will depend on the needs of the partner parish and the capacity of your parish. If construction, painting or landscaping are the need, your parish might be able to furnish labor and materials or your expertise. For a parish like St. Andrew, the initial need is financial donations to pay for their renovation project.
Where can I send a donation?
Mail a check to Catholic Charities of Arkansas, 2500 N. Tyler St., Little Rock, AR 72207, with the notation St. Andrew, Danville. Make the check payable to Diocese of Little Rock-One Church. Or you can make a one-time or recurring gift at dolr.org/one- church.

Cena de accion de gracias
Las clases de catecismo de primer año de preparación para la Primera Comunión presentarán el programa Circulo de Gracia el 14 de noviembre de 2021. Este es un entrena- miento obligatorio diocesano que con mucho gusto ofre- cemos para la seguridad de los jóvenes de CTK. Le reco- mendamos encarecidamente que mire los materiales y ten- ga una charla con sus hijos. Les mandaremos más infor- mación muy pronto, por correo electrónico o mensajes de texto de Remind.
Dando hasta que duela
En la época de Cristo, el sacrificio no era nada nuevo para el pueblo judío. Los israelitas eran expertos en sacrificios. Entonces, después de siglos de todo tipo de ofrendas imaginables, ¿qué tenía de especial la de Cristo? ¿Qué la hizo tan diferente de los sacrificios ofrecidos por los sacerdotes levitas durante siglos antes de su muerte?
Bueno, responder adecuadamente a esa pregunta consumiría volúme- nes enteros. Y, por supuesto, la primera y más importante razón es que Cristo era el hijo de Dios y el salvador del mundo, no una ofren- da de cordero al azar (aunque “sin mancha”). Solo por la sangre de Cristo podíamos ser redimidos.
Pero otra respuesta es esta: el sacrificio de Cristo le costó. De hecho, le costó todo. Las ofrendas hechas por los israelitas a través de sus sacerdotes también les costaron, por supuesto. Dieron de sus rebaños, de las provisiones de su casa, de sus riquezas. Pero Cristo dio de ma- nera diferente. Dio de sí mismo. Dio hasta que todo se acabó.
Ésta es la forma más elevada de corresponsabilidad: el don de uno mismo hasta el punto de la incomodidad. Puede tomar una multitud de formas y no estoy diciendo que todos estemos llamados a ser cla- vados en la cruz. De hecho, para la mayoría de nosotros, nuestros dones no implicarán ningún malestar físico en absoluto. Pero cierta- mente, la corresponsabilidad exige incomodidad. Exige que vayamos en contra de nuestra naturaleza humana de ponernos a nosotros mis- mos en primer lugar, de pensar principalmente en nuestras propias necesidades y deseos. Y, sobre todo, exige amor. Eso, sobre todo, distinguió el don que Cristo nos dio.

erDomingo del Tiempo Ordinario
“El cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasa-
rán” (Marcos 13:31). ¿Cuándo será el fin de los tiempos? No lo sa- bemos. El mismo Jesús lo afirma con las siguientes palabras en el Evangelio: “Por lo que se refiere a ese Día y cuando vendrá, no lo
sabe nadie, ni los ángeles en el Cielo, ni el Hijo, sino solamente el Padre” (Marcos 13:32). Por aquello del miedo que muchas personas tienen hacia el fin del mundo, hasta consultan brujos y adivinos para saberlo. El día de hoy, la Palabra de Dios nos da la respuesta a estos interrogantes.
Que nadie los engañe, solo Dios lo sabe y a nadie se lo ha dicho o revelado.
Por otro lado, estamos por concluir el Año Litúrgico y recorrimos el camino de Marcos en este ciclo B. El próximo domingo será el último y lo cerraremos con la Solemnidad de Cristo Rey. En quince días iniciaremos el Adviento con San Lucas en el ciclo C. Entonces, estemos listos, bus- quemos gente que nos guie y no sigamos a cualquiera. La recomendación de Jesús, es siempre la misma: vigílense, estén atentos, oren y no se duerman, estén alertas como en el vigía en medio de la noche. Cada desastre en el mundo, como esta pandemia que ha dejado destrucción y muerte en muchas familias, nos pone en alerta en la vida y nos hace buscar al que es el Señor de la vida. El papa Francisco recomienda reflexionar en lo siguiente: “Será más que nunca el momento en el que nos abandonemos definitivamente al amor del Padre y nos confiemos a su misericordia (11- 21-2018).
